Poll: Americans down on U.S. economyWashington, DC, Sep. 20 (UPI) -- Fewer than four out of 10 Americans think the U.S. economy is doing well, a poll released Monday indicated. Three percent of respondents to a Gallup Poll said they thought economic conditions in the United States were excellent, and 36 percent described them as good. Thirty-nine percent said they thought economic conditions were only fair, while 22 percent said they were poor. The last time a majority of survey respondents said they thought economic conditions were good was in February 2001. The poll also indicated an almost even split on whether voters think the U.S. economy is getting better or worse, with 47 percent of respondents saying they thought it was getting better and 45 percent saying it was getting worse. The results were based on telephone surveys conducted Sept. 13-15 with
1,022 U.S. adults and have a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage
points. |
